Three circles split a Venn diagram into eight parts. In the middle are the elements of all three sets, around it the elements of exactly two sets, then the elements of only one set, and outside the circles the rest of the universal set U.

What does this generator do?

On easy, you shade expressions such as A ∩ B ∩ C or A ∖ (B ∪ C). On medium, you read numbers of elements from the diagram. On hard, you solve word problems where you first have to fill in the diagram.

How to use it

1) When shading, go through all eight parts and ask for each one whether it belongs to the set. 2) In a word problem, fill in the diagram from the middle: first all three sets, then the pairs (subtract the middle), and finally “only A”, “only B”, “only C”.
