Write both the experimental and the theoretical probability of the given face as fractions.

A fair die is rolled 60 times. The face 6 appeared 15 times. Give P_exp and P_theo for the face {face}.

What does the generator do?

The generator picks one of the six die faces and a roll count of 30, 60, 90 or 120. The observed count is set close to 1/6 of the rolls so the experimental probability is not too far from the theoretical one.

How to solve

Experimental probability is what the data show โ€” the observed count divided by the number of trials. Theoretical probability is what the model predicts โ€” for a fair die, one out of six. Compare them and notice how the experimental value gets closer to 1/6 as we roll more often.
