This exercise teaches a fast shortcut: multiplying or dividing a decimal by 10, 100 or 1000 is not really a calculation — you just shift the decimal point. The direction (right when multiplying, left when dividing) and number of places (1, 2 or 3) come straight from the multiplier or divisor.

What does this generator do?

Picks a decimal (1 to 3 decimal places) and either multiplies it by 10, 100 or 1000, or divides it by the same.

How to use it

× 10 shifts the point one place right. × 100 = two places. × 1000 = three places. Division shifts it the same number of places left. If the answer is a whole number, you no longer need the decimal point.
