You find the area of a triangle by multiplying the length of one side by the altitude that goes with it, then dividing by two: A = (a · hₐ) / 2. The altitude of a triangle is the perpendicular distance from the opposite vertex to that side – in the figure it is shown as a dashed line.
What does the generator do?
The generator picks the side length a and the altitude hₐ so that their product is always even. That way, after dividing by two, the result is always a whole number with no remainder. Sides range from 2 to 20 in cm, m, or mm.
How to use it
Multiply the side length a and the altitude hₐ. Divide the result by two. Type the number into the box next to “A =” – the result is in square units.
