What is the Equation Generator?

The equation generator creates problems where one of the values (first number, second number, or result) is unknown and students must calculate it. For example: ? + 3 = 8, or 7 - ? = 3, or 4 + 6 = ?.

Usage

Press the "NEW EXERCISE" button and an equation with one unknown value will be generated, which will be replaced by an empty field. Enter the correct answer in this field and verify it with the "CHECK" button.

Difficulty Levels

Equations have five difficulty levels that use the same rules as addition and subtraction:

• up to 10: All numbers are at most up to 10.
• up to 20 (without crossing): Numbers up to 20, but without crossing tens.
• up to 20: Numbers up to 20, one number is always at most up to 10.
• up to 100 (without crossing): Numbers up to 100, but without crossing multiples of ten.
• up to 100: Numbers up to 100, one number is always at most up to 10.
